Del Popolo Pizza Truck Launches

The people's Neapolitan pies

del popolo!

Approximately fourteen hours and some minutes from now, one man brings forth on this city a new ration, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all people should eat outstanding pizza.

Del Popolo is the fourteen-ton manifestation of this concept by former Flour + Water pizzaiolo Jonathan Darsky.

If a shipping container and freight truck had a pizza-obsessed baby, Darsky’s behemoth would be it: Behind the exposed glass front, he slings pies and mans the 800-degree-capable wood-burning oven.

Three smoky-crusted Neapolitans per day democratize delight, with one veg, one meat, and one seasonal option (like white pizza with wild radish rapini and garlic). The margherita is a likely leader with sauce that tastes like the essence of every good tomato in the world pulverized just for your pleasure.

It’s pizza of the people, by the people, for the people.

Del Popolo pizza truck launches tonight, around 5:30 p.m., at Bar Agricole, 355 11th Street, between Folsom and Harrison Streets. Follow @pizzadelpopolo (to confirm exact launch time) on Twitter. For more information, go to delpopolosf.com.
