That’s a metaphor. Kinda dark, kinda funny, kinda genius — the SXSW hit is a literal mixed bag of emotions. When you’re not chuckling at Jason Ritter and Jake Sandvig playing misguided rogues who rake in the dough via grand theft, you’re tearing up at their Big Daddy notions to take a neglected boy under their wing. Throw in Rebecca Hall, Amanda Seyfried, and a hopeful-but-ambiguous ending, and you’ve got some food for thought.
It’s like: Miss March meets Hesher.
Take: Family of faux.
