What: Eye-opening photos depicting life halfway across the world from five contemporary Middle Eastern and Indian artists.
Why: See Shadi Ghadirian’s unsettling image of a hand grenade casually placed in a fruit bowl and Gazelle Samizay’s depiction of a traditional bridal custom titled “Upon My Daughter.”
