Scout Society: Alison Pincus

Getting cozy with the One Kings Lane founder

Meet Scout Society member Alison Pincus.

Hometown: San Francisco, California [1, 7]

How do you pay the rent?
Working at One Kings Lane. (Note: The actual lane does exist.) [3]

How else do you fill your days?
Adoring my twins [pictured: one of two, 12], practicing stand-up paddling, shopping, tinkering in the kitchen (and I mean tinkering) [8], and Instagramming.

Who are you following these days and why?
Many inspiring people, including creaturecomforts [4], mrslilien [9], and thecoveteur on Instagram.

Let’s get Scouting. A self-portrait?
I am sitting in my friend’s apartment — wishing it were mine. [6]

Your beauty stash?
My makeup bags — I’m on the go a lot so they always remain packed. The bags are by Workshop/Coop. [11] From what I understand, [the brand] works to help women and men from artisan-run cooperatives in key areas like Guatemala, Mongolia, and Kenya.

Your morning coffee?
An iced vanilla latte.

Your significant other, lover, or BFF?
I chose this picture [of my husband] because it includes Mark and his fearless warrior, Zinga. (She passed in 2008.) Zynga, the company, is named after her. [5]

What one photo do you refuse to delete from your phone and why?
These twins — they supposedly run together every day in Santa Monica. [10]

Your work space?
You’re seeing the corner of my desk. Yes, I’m obsessed with pencils. [2]

What was the last thing you bought?
My Hanukkah present to myself: a pair of Chanel motorcycle boots. They are in the mail. I’m obsessed with the diagonal zipper!
