Meet Scout Society members Claire Mazur and Erica Cerulo.
How do you pay the rent?
We’re the founders of Of a Kind, where we sell the pieces and tell the stories of emerging fashion designers.
How else do you fill your days?
Erica: Cooking and hanging with my bunny, Patsy Stone (named for the Ab Fab character, as if I had to tell you.) God, I wish I was more interesting.
Claire: Going for a run around my hood every morning to catch some pretty views and clear my head before the workday and finding time to hang with my friends.
Who are you following these days and why?
@annieleelarson — A knitwear designer who always tells a good color story.
@helenr — A cool Saveur editor who takes really enticing food pics.
@ohjoystudio — Who has the cutest baby (toddler?) on the whole Internet.
@frommetoyou — Our photographer, Jamie Beck, for the adventure envy.
@snoopdogg — For the laughs. I mean …
@roanzone — And finally, my main squeeze, for the rich assortment of pictures featuring him with various rap personalities (and the ATL twins).
Let’s get Scouting. A self-portrait?
Erica: Milestone — upgrading to a diamond nose ring.
Claire: In Minneapolis hanging out at the Walker Art Center with Yayoi Kusama’s “The Passing Winter.”
Your morning coffee?
Erica: PG Tips tea with almond milk in a Russ & Daughters mug. I know what you’re thinking: baller.
Your significant other, lover, or BFF?
Erica: The boy and his shiny new hat!
Claire: Here he is carrying his nephew around in a plastic carton meant for storing shoes. I chose him because I knew he’d make a responsible parent one day.
What was the last thing you bought?
Erica: Okay, this was a gift, but a matte black cream and sugar set from Michele Varian.
Claire: A camel-colored wool coat by Céline for 70 percent off — pictured here in the dressing room during deliberation period. It pays to have a Jewish mother who drags you out of bed at 7 a.m. on December 26th to hit the department stores.
Your “special” place?
Erica: My nightstand! That Vogue cover was designed by Salvador Dalí. Amaze, right?
Claire: My living room — these Dutch cabinets were in my grandparents’ apartment on the Upper East Side when I was growing up. I love that now I have them in my own New York apartment.
What one photo do you refuse to delete from your phone and why?
Claire: This is my spectacular Grandma Shirley. She has no filter between her brain and her mouth and is always chatting animatedly. You can get a taste of it via Twitter at @panicles.
