Lately, you’ve been shirking your accessorizing duties (see: that Ziploc bag you call a wallet).
Take back the reins with Make Smith, a gorgeous collection of hand-worked leather goods based out of Santa Barbara.
Armed with a degree in fine arts, designer Steven D. Soria takes an academic approach to crafting; his clean, minimalist creations draw inspiration from midcentury modernists like Carl Auböck. For a boost of rustic appeal, Soria, whose grandfather and father were both saddle makers, sources thick slabs of cowhide from storied Herman Oaks tannery and employs traditional stitching.
Standout designs include a Mexican blanket belt, a tabletop candleholder, and arrowhead coasters.
Can’t find what you’re after on the website? Collaborate with Soria on an original design (though it won’t come cheap).
He also offers regular workshops where students make their own wallets, planters, and more.
Now that’s one badass leather daddy.
Available at makesmith.com, $15 and up.
