JT’s not the only one staging a comeback.
This week Detroit-based label Shinola (named for the famed vintage shoe polish maker) revives the label to the tune of American-made bicycles, timepieces, and leather goods.
Swiss movement watches (bearing straps sourced from Chicago’s Horween Leather Co.) are assembled by hand at the brand’s Motor City studio. Frenchie road bikes and cruisers — designed by Milwaukee-born bike aficionado Sky Yaeger — have Wisconsin-welded frames, Colorado-crafted spokes, and heritage-era hues from burned orange to forest green.
Hardcover linen journals carry equal domestic cred: Each is bound with pages from one of Ann Arbor’s oldest mills.
Accessorize with polished hide iPhone covers, attache cases, or wallets, and you’ll be prepped to take your show on the road.
Suit and tie optional.
Available at shinola.com, $7-$2,950.
