L'Ecole des Beaux Arts Opens

A class act

l'ecole des beaux arts!

As a functional adult, you’re glad to be rid of calculus-induced anxiety, nasty organic chem professors, and standardized tests. School, as they say, can shove it.

Wrong. Let us educate you: L’Ecole des Beaux Arts is now open in Williamsburg.

Inspired by the creative prowess of her friends, designer Sara Moffat (Jackson, Johnston & Roe) founded the school and shop in order to share their artistic talents with the world — or at least Brooklyn.

Upcoming classes include indigo dyeing with Lindsay Robinson, a make-your-own bow and arrow workshop with Moffat, and a Picasso-inspired collage study with Nikki Berger Martinez. There’s even a double session to learn the ins and outs of appropriation in art.

All skill levels are welcome, but space is limited and prices vary depending on materials.

If you’d rather leave the crafting to the experts, Moffat stocks products made by her friends and found during her travels (sailor shirts, Czech army woolen socks, vintage Iranian rugs, New Mexican woven baskets).

A plus.

L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, 338 Wythe Avenue, between South 1st and 2nd Streets, Williamsburg (ldbabrooklyn.com). To sign up for classes, go to ldbabrooklyn.bigcartel.com.
