Description: Members of the Trout rain jacket crew have been spotted flashing their splash-repellent getups with hidden pockets, hideaway hoods, and bold detailing around town.

Suspects: Co-founding sisters Ashley McDonald and Jenn Lancefield, in cahoots with designer Sarah Hopgood (a Parsons alum and Ports 1961 design vet).

Motives and Methods: Recognizing the need for stay-dry outerwear that doesn’t look like it washed up from an episode of Deadliest Catch. Expertly tailored, breathable, waterproof Italian double-face cotton with watertight seams sealed by polyurethane tape.

Evidence: Playful color combinations (olive and yellow, beige and white with bright orange inner seams) and smart styles (exhibit A: sporty Humboldt parka; elegant Gila trench; reversible, oversize Biwa silhouette). 

Talk about an open-and-shut case.
