How do you pay the rent?
Sorting through jewelry like this. I’m the founder of online jewelry store Charm & Chain. We’re a destination for designer fashion jewelry.
How else do you fill your days?
I’m also a gemologist. For fun, I do engagement ring consulting for guys in NYC. I’m like an engagement ring fairy godmother. They tell me their budgets and what style rings they want, and I take care of having the rings made from start to finish. It’s a way to keep my diamond knowledge fresh, and I get to participate in one of the most special moments in a couple’s life. In total, I’ve probably saved my clients hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Who are you following these days?
@kellywearstler — Kelly is one of my style icons, and I love seeing where she gets inspiration for her interior design spaces.
@ruthiefrieds — I’ve watched my friend Ruthie Friedlander go from college intern to working in PR at Chanel to becoming the senior digital manager at The Row. She’s amazing at social media, and I’m so excited to see how she’s going to expand The Row’s digital presence.
Lulu Frost on Tumblr — Her studio is one of my favorite places to visit, and I love seeing pictures of designer Lisa Salzer’s latest creations using vintage findings.
Let’s get Scouting. A self-portrait?
Here I am modeling my arm party for Refinery29’s “Wrist Wars” story.
Your beauty cabinet?
I love perfume almost as much as I love jewelry. Here’s a snapshot of my favorite scents.
The last person who made you stop and say, “Damn, that’s stylish.”
It’s relatively easy to look fashionable in warm weather, but if you can look chic during a blizzard (like Miroslava Duma did in a fuzzy pink hat and Céline coat during New York Fashion Week) you’re on another level in my book.
Your significant lover, other, or BFF?
Here’s my husband when he was interviewed by Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report. He’s much cooler than I am, obviously.
What one photo do you refuse to delete from your phone and why?
I love this magical picture that my best friend took on her iPhone on my wedding day. Our reception was on Ellis Island, so everyone took the ferry over after the ceremony and cruised around the Statue of Liberty before the party. To me, this photo captures my ultimate New York moment.
What’d you do last weekend?
Cycle for Survival, an indoor cycling event that raises money to fund research for rare forms of cancer. It’s a phenomenal cause, and together, we raised more than $13 million dollars.
The last thing you ate?
I eat jewelry for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.
Your special place?
I have a gigantic jewelry wall in my apartment where I display a part of my collection and hang a lot of my bigger pieces. For me, it’s much more important than my closet, because I usually pick jewelry before clothing.
