You’re still haunted by the sloppy spirits (tequila shots, rum slush) of spring break past.
Clean up your act at Hard Water, a decidedly mature watering hole from Charles Phan (The Slanted Door, Out the Door) and starchitect Olle Lundberg (Quince, Slanted Door) currently in soft opening.
Don’t worry about drowning in options. Hard Water’s concept is simple: bourbon, straight-out-of-NOLA eats, and stunning bay views.
Backlit walls give bottles of booze the Tiffany’s treatment. Ogle 150 hard-to-find whiskeys, including out of production bottles and private barrels from Kentucky.
Saddle up to the marble horseshoe bar for Southern-inspired snacks like cornmeal-crusted alligator, unforgettable fried chicken (moist, thinly crisped, and glossed to perfection), and baked oysters.
Cap it off with bar director Erik Adkins’s Bourbon Lift (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Stumptown coffee liqueur, orgeat, Straus organic cream, soda water), a cocktail as classic as the view.
(Big) easy does it.
