Juniorbeads safe jewelry for kids

Sometimes raising daughters feels like trying on bathing suits in poorly lit department store fitting rooms: You see yourself in their reflections, and think, Wait, is that me?

Other times, it’s all ice cream, kisses, and sharing necklaces.

Juniorbeads, an offshoot of Chewbeads, brings out the latter with a new collection of baubles designed for kids. The pint-size costume jewelry is a playful take on the line originally created for moms of teething babies.

Made from FDA-approved silicone, all the pieces are free of BPA, phthalates, and lead — so it’s a-okay if they end up in your kiddo’s mouth. And that’s a good thing, since the beads resemble brightly colored gumballs. For extra safety, necklaces are strung on a double layer of sturdy satin ribbon and have a breakaway clasp that releases when tugged.

Bendy bangles and glow-in-the-dark varieties round out the happy-to-be-a-girl selection. Our little ladies insist on stacking and layering their accessories.

Wonder where they get that from.

Available at juniorbeads.com, $6-$22.50.
