SPF That Fits Kids like a Tee

Mott 50 launches a kids' collection

We couldn’t decide which get-out-of-the-house routine was less stressful: boots, scarf, and puffy jacket or sunscreen, shades, and hat.

But thanks to Mott 50’s sun-protective clothing, we now think summer has it in the (beach) bag. The collection of tees, dresses, and leggings has a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) of 50. In comparison, a plain white tee comes in at a paltry 5.

The pieces guard against UVB (burning) and UVA (wrinkles, skin cancer) rays and are designed to be worn on or off the beach. Choose from moisture-wicking rash guards, nautical-striped crew necks, and classic cotton logo tees.

We imagined the rayon/spandex blends and cotton tops would be tacky to the touch because of the sun protection. But we were wrong: The pieces are soft, sumptuous, and comfy, making it easy to convince a 4-year-old to wear them.

And easier to get out the door.

Available at mott50.com, $20-$49.
