Deck Your Halls with Sound & True

Indie finds that are cool, calm, and collected

It’s hard enough resisting Austin’s lasso-like pull (see: booming cultural scene, epic music festival, taco cred).

Now that we’ve seen the shelves at Sound & True — the curated home and garden shop from Austin native and Design Sponge contributor Mary Kathryn Paynter — we’re tempted to make it our permanent home on the range.

Paynter stocks her store (part of East Austin’s Rosewood Collective, which she co-founded earlier this year) with indie and handpicked vintage wares that combine function and form.

Sleek ceramics with Southwestern sunset-style stripes by Shino Takeda; a bold, colorful array of cotton handwoven rugs; terra-cotta bird feeders; and mixed-media ceramic vases spruce any space.

Mantel-worthy wooden slingshots and brass bottle openers by Japanese craftsmen round out the corral.

Time to pony up.

Available at soundandtrue.com, $8-$300.
