Alex Mill Has Boys’ Basics Buttoned Up

Schoolboy staples from a preppy scion

Let’s be clear: Ninja Turtles sneaks, a T. rex tee, and a superhero cape add up to a pretty killer preschool ensemble.

But when it’s time for something more sophisticated, Alex Mill’s boys’ collection is at the ready.

The new line from Alex Drexler (son of J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler) focuses primarily on males of the grown-up variety — dads, take note — but offers a handful of its high-end, preppy-with-a-twist styles in sizes 2 to 10.

Sturdy oxford and chambray button-downs go the distance all school year, and a plaid flannel work shirt couldn’t be cozier for winter. The striped, long-sleeved Mariners tee and the just-slim-enough dark-wash jeans (with a grow-with-him adjustable waist) upstage anything in the big man’s closet. To top it all off: a khaki blazer and striped cashmere beanie for a ridiculously cute rumpled schoolboy look.

A quick touch test made clear the quality of each fabric in the slim-cut collection. And thoughtful details (embroidered touches, custom multicolored buttons) mean they — and him — feel extra special.

Not unlike his Power Rangers undies.

Available at unionmadegoods.com and barneys.com, $45-$128.
