Move over, bedazzler…it’s time to tap into your inner 5-year old. (No, we don’t mean pulling out your co-worker’s hair, or throwing a tantrum because she used the last FedEx pouch to de-lint her cat-hair-ridden outfit.)
We mean splatter paint. It’s all the rage. Luella is doing it on bags. Marc Jacobs is doing it on jeans.
And if Jackson Pollock could get away with it, we ask…why can’t you? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question.)
But why spend as much as you would on a Pollock opus when you could do it yourself and get down with the fumes? (This is a joke: DailyCandy does not endorse drug use—and if you have a problem with your Sharpie indelible marking pens, please see a doctor.)
Back to more wholesome activities. Herewith the DailyCandy recipe for make-your-own splatter tees.
1. Dig into your closet for a sweatshirt. Or hit Kmart or a nearby Army-Navy store.
2. Cut off collar. (Oh so eighties! Jennifer Beals, eat your heart out.)
3. Get out paints, and start splatting! (If you have a loved one nearby who is bothering you, feel free to spread the love.)
What you need: puffy paint, black marker for jeans, and drip-drizzle bottles. All materials are available at fabricpaint.com.
Have fun!
