Above the Fold

The week in fashion news

Best foot forward.

• We’ve always known the monthly subscription business model had legs, and now, according to The New York Times, it has feet to match. The paper profiled some of the dozen or so companies that hawk colorful socks to the canton of sartorially aware men. It fails to mention DailyCandy favorite Pique (we assume because it caters primarily to ladies). We’ll be sure to leave some comments. (The New York Times)

• Black Friday indeed. The post-Thanksgiving discount day has led to the deaths of seven shoppers over the years. Ninety others have been injured. Disturbing and tragic. (Racked)

• Alexander Wang hooked up with Beats by Dr. Dre. We expect to see the resulting black and gold headphones tucked coyly around every blogger’s neck in 1 million Instagrams. The audio devices go on sale December 15. (WWD)

• The first image of the Peter Pilotto for Target collection dropped, and it looks like we’re in for a treat. (Elle)

• New York Fashion Week, or at least the part at Lincoln Center, is getting a makeover. Guest lists will be trimmed, runways rethought, and the general mass of lookers on who invade the tents sans invite will be curtailed. But what will we have to bitch about in February? (Fashionista)
