The week in fashion news

Big news, y’all.

• Choupette Lagerfeld visited Dallas this week. Her dad, Karl, picked the Lone Star State to host Chanel’s Western-tinged Metiers d’Art prefall runway show. (WWD)

• Instagram launched Instagram Direct on Thursday. The new feature is vaguely akin to group-texted Snapchats, minus the disappearing act. It took Gap all of two hours to incorporate it into a marketing campaign and teens everywhere five minutes to send selfies to their new groupies. (Fashionista)

• Erykah Badu is the face of Givenchy’s latest campaign. By the looks of the first images, Riccardo Tisci’s decision to cast the singer was a strong one. Excuse us while we go groove for an hour or so. (Style.com)

• Valentino hooked up with Havaianas. If you ever wanted croc leather or rock star studded flip-flops, the time is nigh. The shoes hit stores in January. (The Telegraph)

• The Golden Globe nominees were announced this week, marking the start of awards season. We’re giddy for the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, and Greta Gerwig in couture. (Los Angeles Times)
