The week in fashion news

Happy News Year!

• Is the Internet the new black? The LBD is dead; long live the LBD. (Racked)

• A protest led by Cambodian garment workers seeking higher wages turned deadly today when security forces opened fire. The crowd is said to have grown increasingly violent in response to beatings by military forces deployed to the demonstration on Thursday. Four people were killed and 26 are reported injured. (WWD)

• Orange is having a moment. Shades spanning fruity to burnt dominated the prefall 2014 collections, which means you should go ahead and wear it now, style bloggers. (Style.com)

• Kirsten Dunst is the new face of L’Oréal Professional, Sky Ferreira is in at Redken, and if you watched the Law & Order: SVU marathon yesterday, you noticed Gisele Bündchen’s squeaky new commercials for Pantene. Can you keep all the new beauty spokesmodels straight (or perhaps loose and wavy)? (Elle UK)

• Congrats to the always impeccably styled Olivia Palermo. Her longtime BF Johannes Huebl popped the question. That’s one wedding dress we can’t wait to see. (Daily Mail)
