Painted Palms keeps it in the family

Our favorite release of the week comes from cousins Reese Donohue (pictured, left) and Christopher Prudhomme (vocals, pictured, right), a.k.a. Painted Palms. Debut album Forever (out today) is full of pretty, nostalgic tracks: “Spinning Signs” has elements of The Beatles; “Here It Comes” makes us want to clap along.

But there’s so much more: Foster the People and Real Estate tease new albums (both available in March), James Vincent McMorrow gives his normally folksy sound a heavy dose of hip-hop, and Broken Bells has us holding on to every note.
