Help Your Skin Strike a Balance

Organic beauty expert Marie Veronique Nadeau’s simple face mask recipe

The two words that frustrate us most: combination skin.

Marie Veronique Nadeau, founder of her namesake beauty line, has a four-ingredient concoction that can help. The acids in dairy (lactic) and apple cider vinegar (acetic and malic) reduce oiliness and unclog pores. Honey works in harmony to add back moisture.

Leave out the milk and the same combination — imbibed on an empty stomach — is a digestive aid.

Balancing Facial Mask

1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. water
1 tsp. yogurt, sour cream, or milk
1 tsp. honey

1. Mix the first three ingredients together, then stir in the honey.

2. Swab mixture on the skin and leave 5 to 10 minutes.

3. Rinse with water.

4. Afterward, apply a moisturizer, preferably an oil blend, so the face does not become too dry and stiff. The hydrator provides surface protection and breaks up congestion in deeper layers of the skin — even for those with oily skin.

Tip: Always wear sunscreen before you go out after a mask treatment. Or confine applications to nighttime only.
