Keeping a neutral face

kate spade backstage!

The neutral Nellies of the world are here to stay — especially now that Kate Spade is a devotee.

M.A.C. lead artist Lyne Desnoyers did her part to rally the troops (a.k.a. models) by creating a sophisticated palette of peach, pearl, and milk chocolate. First she prepped faces with pink or gold shimmer for luminosity, sculpting cheekbones with sheer taupe and dandelion blushes. Eyelids got a wash of champagne shadow up to the brow bone, then mushroom liner along lashes.

When we spotted Desnoyers with a tube of Myself, the line’s discontinued, flattering-on-every-skin tone nude lipstick, we refrained from pressing her on plans for the much-missed color. We’re keeping our beige-painted fingernails crossed that it reappears on its site.

Maybe for fall?
