We’ve always had a soft spot for West 13th Street. Caf? Loup (women’s poker night!). Gradisca (carbo load!). APT (secret trysts!). Integral Yoga (penance for it all!).
Now there’s a new kid on the block, Domicile, the latest from the executive chef of Serafina.
With a return to comfort being the trend of late (if you don’t know what domicile means, look it up; you can impress your friends with a big word), we’re digging it. Love the cushy sofas on which you can recline while dining on Italian, French, and American fare. There’s great date lighting (if you can find a date), and a big cozy fireplace. The menu includes tuna tartare, lobster carpaccio, and steak frites. There’s a late-night menu as well as dessert?so if the chocolate souffl? doesn’t appeal you can go for round two with a croque monsieur, or a “serious burger” called Mac Stephan (named for the owner).
Isn’t that what the nesting instinct is about, after all?
Domicile, 154 West 13th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues (646-486-6700).
