They’re out there.
The people you can call day or night to chat about anything from shoes to a family tiff. Sisters. They pulled your hair and ratted on you when you broke curfew. They call you stupid nicknames and groan when you insist “It wasn’t me!” because, um, they know it was you.
And then there are your Satellite Sisters. As the Dolan sisters of the much-adored NPR radio show explain, you couldn’t get along without them. You don’t have to be an NPR addict to love the book, which hits stores this week. There are still plenty of valuable life lessons like “Carry Your Own Skis” and “Can’t You Just Try to Be Pleasant?” (Mom? Is that you?)
Even if you don’t have a sister, you have a satellite one: someone who “brings information, perspective, and balance to your life when you are lacking all three.” If she’s anything like these Satellite Sisters, she’s down-to-earth, witty, and doesn’t take herself too seriously. One sister tells us never to trust the advice of radio-talk-show hosts or “anyone, other than a bride, wearing white pumps.”
Our advice? Chuck the Chopra, and get on board with these sisters.
