New York. Paris. Milan. Herzogenaurach.
Herzo … huh?
Birthplace of Adidas, 1948. Fast forward, 2002. The German town becomes a definitive hotbed of international designer pretension. Hot on the heels of Yohji Yamamoto’s rendition of the perennially-loved shoe, Stella McCartney and NOKI unveil their take on the Adidas sneaker. The clincher — only 100 pair exist. So for those who crave individuality, the oh-so-limited edition kicks can be had … for a mere $350.
The NOKI Piston, which hits stores this week, is a tongue-in-cheek remix of the classic Forum basketball shoe with deconstructed labels and logos. McCartney’s creations (to be released in April) are cream-colored and punched up with primaries and pastels.
Balenciaga bags? Move on. Real fashion hounds are taking it to the feet.
