Let's Hear It for the Girls

It’s 4 p.m. You have the munchies. It’s too darn cold to run to the deli, and you’re too darn proud to order just one cookie.

What to do? Become your own dealer. Spread love around the office. That way you’ll always — to quote the Boy Scouts — be prepared.

Scouts? Cookies? We know where you’re going, but the Girl Scouts have officially been one-upped. The Lower Eastside Girls Club, a nonprofit organization, makes and sells homemade cookies and candies.

Proceeds go to Sweet Things, an entrepreneurial program for inner-city girls ages eight to eighteen. High on their agenda is building the first Girls Club of NYC. (In case you’re counting, there are seven Boys’ Clubs and zero for the Girls, who are stuck renting.)

So tap into your inner salesperson. Sell cookies for them! Download an order form and pass it around the office. Their goal is one thousand sales by December 20th (just in time for Christmas).

Sweets for real estate? These girls make New York proud.
