Tempted?
"Don't Tempt Me" Opens

Depressed by this summer’s movies (Hollywood, how dumb do you think we are?), we ducked into a screening of Don’t Tempt Me, praying that it wasn’t the Penelope Cruz flick that had people throwing tomatoes at Cannes.
Suffice it to say it’s not. The movie, which opens in New York and Los Angeles today (and nationwide over the next month), was a slam dunk in Spain, earning eleven Goya nominations (that’s Spanish for Oscar).
We wouldn’t dare reveal anything about the plot (we’d so hate to deny you the delight and surprise), but this much we can say: In addition to Cruz (who’s not at all annoying, really), Don’t Tempt Me stars the legendary Fanny Ardant, Almodovar darling Victoria Abril, and Gael Garcia Bernal, the Y Tu Mama Tambien hottie. A mix of Spanish and English language, the film is peppered with snappy insider jokes and tackles such matters as good and evil, life and death, love and duty.
All the big themes. Minus the wisecracking buddy cops and musclebound vigilantes.
Which, as you probably know by now, is a very, very good thing.
Don’t Tempt Me opens in New York and Los Angeles today. Tickets
are available online at moviefone.com.
