Safety Dance

Your closet is more khaki than sequins. Your investment portfolio is all low-risk. And when it comes to getting digits or giving them, you prefer to make the call.

Some people might label you — Dare we say it? — conservative.

Quiet the pundits by taking a chance at Lili, the newest women’s boutique to open on Wells Street. The second-floor store is the perfect combination of old-world charm (overstuffed armoires and chandeliers) and modern luxury (flat-screen TV and mod white leather chairs).

But the shop really shines in the merch department. You’ll find progressive looks from Rita Flora, Mogg vintage-inspired denim, and cotton-soft skirts and tops from A Common Thread alongside goods from favorites like Chaiken, Easel, and Ya-Ya.

If you’re not quite ready to completely ditch your classic sensibility for rock ‘n’ roll style, ease into it by pairing jeans and a tank with an edgier Botkier purse.

The only risk involved with that outfit? Not getting the bag before it sells out.

Lili Boutique, 1543 North Wells Street, between North Avenue and Schiller Street (312-654-8511).
