Sorry, but if DIY was looking for a poster child, they wouldn’t pick you.
After all, the only thing you get crafty about is figuring out how to get things done without personally having to do anything at all.
But since dinner is being delivered and spoon fed to you, it appears to us like you have some time on your hands (literally). Keep those digits nimble at Knit 1, a new knitting store on Lincoln Avenue. Oh, that’s right, you don’t make things. No worries; Knit 1 has a whole series of classes to get you up to speed on the art of knitting — everything from mom-and-me daytime classes to an evening beginner series.
The minimalist whitewashed space is nothing like Grandma’s craft superstore; the intimate shop has an indie spirit and built-in bins that house hard-to-find yarns from lesser known suppliers. Plus, the classes are small (four to six people) so your initial lack of skill won’t be on display for the whole world to see.
At least until you’re good enough to try for poster-child status.
Knit 1, 3823 North Lincoln Avenue, between Grace Street and Berenice Avenue (773-244-1646 or knit1chgo.com).
