That red puffa jacket. That flicky hair. That car.
Did you envy Marty McFly? (All four feet, two inches of him?)
Now you can go back to the future at Luciano, the new restaurant from Marco Pierre White and Sir Rocco Forte — and you don’t have wait for lightning to strike to get there.
These two culinary time travellers have chosen St. James’s, one of London’s most history-packed thoroughfares, for their new venture. It recreates the buzz of Madame Prunier’s, the infamous fish restaurant that stood on the premises 40 years ago and was the haunt of the beau monde, as it is again. The interior — yet another David Collins triumph — has a sophisticated 1940s vibe, with retro mosaic floors in the cavernous whisky bar and elegant leather chairs in the dining room.
As for MPW’s food, expect Italian classics such as risotto alla Milanese, zucchini fritti or tiramisu made with his mamma’s own recipes. Prices are as lofty as in Prunier’s day but worth every haypenny.
Just remember to park the DeLorean outside.
Once you’ve sampled a Luciano Bloody Mary (or five), there’s no way you’ll be able to navigate your own way home.
Luciano, 72 St. James’s Street, SW1 (020 7408 1440).
