Made in the Shade

The leather skull cap? Great idea. Dark shades? Even better. A few new (albeit temporary) tattoos? Perfect.

So why is no one accepting you as the neighborhood bad girl? Well, it could have something to do with that baby blue Vespa you’ve been, um, terrorizing the block with.

Upgrade your two-wheelin’ style at Shade Tree Fabrications. Wunderkind Kyle Shorey fixes up older models, builds customized versions, or just tricks out cookie-cutter factory choppers so they look anything but average.

All he needs is an idea (bring him a photo, drawing, religious vision) and a month to strip down the unwanted stuff (horns, ugly wheels, weak-sounding pipes) and add handmade touches (handlebars, fenders, gas tanks).

The finished version pays homage to Shorey’s mastery of clean lines and classic design — it’s sure to earn you some points in the badass department.

And may help you ditch the nickname “Scooter.”
