What’s that thing they say about too much of a good thing?
Oh, right: Please, sir, I want some more.
When we first stumbled into Turks & Frogs in the West Village a few years ago, we knew we had found a favorite new watering hole. Miraculously, time and crowds never dampened our affection.
And now, there’s more to love.
Namely, lunch, dinner, and a new Tribeca location.
Here’s what’s the same: the Turks (Osman and Orhan Cakir, the brothers who run both locations), the Ottoman vibe (lanterns from Turkey; tiles courtesy the stonemason who used to occupy the space), and the red room in the back (fill in your own mischief).
Here’s what’s new: a slew of outstanding eggplant dishes. Soguk mezeler, Istanbul-style appetizers. Fresh fish, lamb, Cornish hen, and more eggplant for good measure. Triple the space. A (somewhat) secret downstairs wine cellar.
And you. Very, very happy they’ve decided to give you seconds.
Turks & Frogs Tribeca, 458 Greenwich Street, between Watts and Desbrosses Streets (212-966-4774).
