There are some who claim to be soooo happy their wedding is over.
We don’t buy it.
Fortunately, there are an honest few who readily admit that they’d love to do the whole thing again (with the same guy, of course). What did they learn from their big day? Their list of do’s and don’ts if they could walk down the aisle one more time.
The Invitations
Do an inspiring save-the-date. A handwritten postcard is personal, and your guests will remember it. Seal the deal with a custom photo stamp.
Don’t skimp on the invitation. It’s an important keepsake. Ceci New York does the most breathtaking card stock. Or pick a fresh design from Bella Figura. Also, thank-you notes are the last word. Pick one with a lot of personality.
The Workout
Don’t go wackles and turn brideorexic. For quick, visual results, The Bar Method gets the job done. By elongating muscles, burning fat, and stretching tight areas all in one workout, the result is a more defined, leaner frame.
The Bride
Do a Jenny Lee gown if you can swing it. No? Consider simple glam with a Vera Wang dress on the cheap.
Don’t match your shoes to your gown. Plan to wear a pair of pewter Zanotti wedges or gold Hollywould slingbacks. Paint the soles blue.
The Groom
Don’t insult his manhood on his big day. Let him enjoy a flowerless boutonniere of greens. And give him a groom’s cake (they’re making a comeback).
Do keep him busy and feeling involved with a practical task: designing a map, not just with driving directions but with tidbits about the reception — like the locations of all the bars.
The Bridal Party
Don’t make the guys wear identical suits. Suggest the same color. And instead of ties, opt for festive Hermès pocket squares.
There’s no need for the gals to purchase a bridesmaid dress, per se. Do pick a frock you like — say, a feminine number by Lauren Moffatt or Development. That way, they can wear it again (and hopefully return the favor).
Attendant Gifts
A flask is just asking for trouble. Do get them gifts they will enjoy. Every man can use a monogrammed leather catchall in which to empty his pockets at home. For the ladies, do Vita’s leather-and-gold bracelets. They’ll wear them every day but your wedding day.
Welcome Gifts
Do show guests your appreciation (and get them in the mood for love) with votives by Seda France. Monogrammed matches will get them out of the dark.
The Favors
Don’t send guests home with chocolates (they’re already on a sugar high from the cake). For memorable favors that are fun to create, rent a photo booth for your wedding. Guests will love the opportunity to cut loose and will leave with something to remind them of the day.
The Honeymoon
Don’t forget to plan your getaway from all the madness. And don’t take this burden on yourself. Whether you have your sights set on an African safari or the beaches of Fiji, Honeymoon Under the Sun will help you plan the perfect trip. Start by filling out the online questionnaire, and let them take it from there.
The Memories
And don’t forget to document the honeymoon. Have Mac & Cheese Design create a customized photo album commemorating the trip.
You may not be the type who wants to do it all over again, but you will want to remember it forever.
