To Deli and Back

Seriously. You’re not fooling anyone.

Stamping your own passport? That’s just sad. Especially when all you’re leaving is a hot-pink impression of Hello Kitty. And that’s not a country. (We checked.)

So the next time you’re going to pretend to enter an exotic port of call, try heading to For You European Cafe and Deli. The authentic Polish restaurant serves the real deal: placki ziemniaczane (potato pancakes with sour cream or apple sauce), schabowy (a pan-seared pork cutlet), and golabki (cabbage stuffed with pork, beef, and rice).

The cozy space has only a few tables, so expect a wait on busy days. Or you could pass the time in its on-site delicatessen, which serves bona fide sausages from the old country, such as kabanosy (dried), mysliwska (smoked), or jalowcowa (seasoned with juniper berries).

While there, pick up a souvenir in the tiny grocery store to show off to your more worldly friends.

After all, seeing is believing.
