Through the years, America’s done its fair share to separate from the British Empire.

Like flowy A-line skirts, inky dresses with matching sequined scarves, and chic pencil skirts paired with silk tanks delicately detailed with floral patterns. Also in store: large-collared jackets, filmy blouses, and perfectly fitted power suits that won’t break the bank.

They’re the kind of pieces that make a workday feel fun, a play date feel important, and a tea party feel a wee bit rebellious.

Not that we would ever do that again.
