Natural Beauties

A real natural beauty is hard to find.

A nip here. A tuck there. A perfect sun-kissed halo of highlights. (Suuure they’re from hitting the beach last weekend.)

Imagine our excitement when we discovered iWood Ecodesign sunglasses. Rather than the plastic and metal frames usually crowning the heads of hipsters and tanorexics alike, these glasses are made of everyone’s favorite natural resource: wood.

The frames are carved from sustainable-growth woods like zebrawood, bamboo, bubinga, and Makassar ebony — which means no trees are harmed in the process. Each pair is hand-cut, hand-sanded, and hand-finished. Then a licensed optician pops in fine Italian lenses.

iWood founder and designer Steve McMenamin worked for Porsche Design before striking out on his own. So you’d expect he’d bring serious style and attention to detail to the collection.

Of course, not so much that he can’t see the forest for the trees.
