Right at Home

Every day, reminders arrive. If it isn’t another energy bill, it’s a postcard from your dentist, or a strange voice on your machine this morning (who’d you give your number to?).

But a trip to the new Motley Home is a different kind of reminder: a friendly one. The new sister store of the South End’s metro-retro Motley, the cheery emporium brims with home stuff you’d forgotten you needed.

Like delicate glass bud vases shaped like sea urchins, groovy shower curtains that would make Nancy Sinatra squeal, and gorgeous hand-etched wine glasses with elongated stems.

Uber-mod designer Jonathan Adler’s folk-inspired salt and pepper shakers (mini versions of his sculptures) are a cue that you need to replace that canister of pepper packets you’ve been collecting from the deli. Adler’s pillows, with needlepoint Cadillac designs, remind you of your grandfather.

Which reminds you of something else: You were expecting a call from him this morning.
