Reconstructed vintage: Anyone with a pile of T-shirts, a hot glue gun, and an inflated sense of her own hipster creativity can do it.
Or so it seems — until the glue gives way and your makeshift garment falls off midshimmy at Making Time. (Um, “anyone” can also pretend to be 24 eight years in a row.)
Since we all have to grow up (just a little), Claudette, a new line of reconstructed, flowy silk tops should aid in the transition. The blouses have a mismatched look, lending a bohemian aesthetic without making you look clownish.
The designer uses only high-quality vintage silk scarves to make one-of-a-kind pieces. She’ll pair a refined, traditional Hermès style for the sleeves with two or more matching (or contrasting) scarves sewn together for the bodice. The result is a beautifully put together garment that you’ll cherish for years.
And it won’t have come from your designer/musician/waiter roommate.
