You’ve been known to get a hankering for octopus. (Yeah, you’re adventurous.)
But try to cook one of those guys on your own, and you may end up in a situation like Captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. (Not that adventurous.)
Here to help: Positano Coast’s Pippo Lamberti. He’ll show you the ins and outs of preparing a cephalopod on your own.
First, register for the class by calling the restaurant a few days in advance. Then meet this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chinatown’s Quality Seafood and Grocery, where Lamberti will show you what to look for when picking out your octopus. Once you’ve made your informed decision, you’ll head back to Positano Coast to prepare and cook it using the techniques Lamberti practices in his own kitchen.
After all your hard work, you’ll sit down and eat what you made (for better or worse) — assuming you can stomach that many tentacles.
We suspect eight is just about enough.
To register, call Positano Coast, 212 Walnut Street (215-238-0499).
