Little Ms. Fix-It

On the garage sale circuit, you’re no hipster. You’re a hope-ster.

You hope for good deals (of course). You hope that armoire will fit in the car. But most of all, you hope to go through with your grand plans to refinish your new purchases once you get them home.

Face it: You need Vanessa De Vargas at Turquoise. The interior designer has just opened her storefront on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, where she’ll take your old stuff and make it good again, whether that means a fresh coat of lacquer or major reupholstering.

Be warned, however: Once inside her new space, you might forget about your own projects. The homey boutique is full of already-pretty things that de Vargas has restored. Right now she’s high on a mix of ’60s Miami, midcentury modern, and Hollywood Regency styles.

And once you set eyes on all of it, you might be, too.

Besides, isn’t it about time to get that junk out of your trunk?
