And now for a magic trick.
We will conjure ’Wichcraft, Tom Colicchio’s upscale sandwich shop from New York. (Ooh! Ahh!)
Appearing before your very eyes at the new Westfield Center in SOMA: fresh, handpicked ingredients in a sleek, casual setting for all.
Abracadabra! Fried eggs, bacon, gorgonzola, and frisee on a ciabatta roll makes all other breakfast sandwiches seem like hocus-pocus. Open sesame for grilled fontina, black trumpet mushroom, and truffle fondue on Pullman bread. Sicilian tuna with fennel and black olives will vanish into thin air. Salads like roasted turkey, grapefruit, and avocado tossed with black olive vinaigrette are no mere sleight of hand.
Choose an ice cream — any ice cream — and top it with brownie chunks or chocolate chip cookie crumbs. Try a milkshake or a root beer float. Or, if you’re in the mood for something stronger — Shazam! — wine and beer are served.
With takeout and — coming later this month — delivery and online ordering, one thing’s for certain.
You’ll soon be hopelessly under its spell.
’Wichcraft, 868 Mission Street, at Fifth Street (866-942-4272 or wichcraftsf.com).
