My Name Is Luqa

Let’s have a frank discussion about fears, shall we?

Some are necessary for survival (arachnophobia), while others have no basis in common sense at all (homophobia).

Then there’s acrophobia — which can be banished by a trip to Luqa Restaurant and Petrus Lounge. Officially opening today, the combined eatery/club is one place you’ll be completely comfortable five stories up.

The top level of the downtown resto hosts a rooftop stream and dizzying (stay strong) views of the city. One floor below, there’s the ultra-swank Petrus Lounge. And a quick walk down the staircase brings you into the main dining room, where chef David Gilbert (formerly of The Beverly Hilton) whips up palate-pleasing fare.

Start with the delicious Maine lobster wrapped in jicama with a guava-vanilla dressing, or go with the equally divine Aussie rack of lamb drizzled in cafe au lait sauce.

For now, the restaurant’s open only for dinner (lunch starts in January). And Gilbert says the menu will change every couple of months, which means a little metathesiophobia might be inevitable.

But that’s nothing to be afraid of.

A smile makes a lousy umbrella. But DailyCandy Seattle will give you shelter from the storm (or, you know, the light-but-insistent drizzle).
