New Year, New Yu

Start diet. Curb chronic lateness. Read The New Yorker weekly (and not just the cartoons). You had lofty goals in 2006.

Too bad self-improvement overload set in right around week two (blame it on that first two-croissant Sunday at Cafe Besalu).

Resolve to do better in 2007, starting with Herman Yu’s desk calendar — twelve dreamy pages where January through December is still a clean slate.

Recognized for her work with Calvin Klein and Herman Miller, the designer’s lush images are inspired by natural objects (cherry blossoms, a cluster of branches) and printed on thick, creamy card stock. The result: an elegant, modern date-keeper that’ll put your obnoxious co-worker’s office-supply-store clunker to shame.

Not that you’d ever be so petty or small-minded to judge like that.

This week, anyway.
