After a long night of boozing, you can often use a little hair of the dog. But during those hours between bars closing and breakfast spots opening, you might just need an actual dog.
Which you can now get at M’Dawg Haute Dogs.
Giving Adams Morgan’s veteran late-night eats a run for their money (yes, there is life beyond jumbo slices), the new restaurant from the owners of Amsterdam Falafelshop serves hot dogs until 4 a.m. on weekends.
But these aren’t your average supermarket wieners (hence the “haute” part of the equation). The menu offers an array of sausages and dogs that pay tribute to regional faves, including bratwurst, andouille sausage, Chicago red hots, and, of course, a D.C. half smoke. There’s even a veggie dog if you’re trying to muzzle your carnivorous ways.
And thanks to the self-serve toppings bar, you can dress up your selection with slaw, hot cheese, mustard, and house-made chili.
Turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks.
