Blame it on the tequila poppers in Cabo (limbo moves ended in concussion) or your 21st at Tiki Bob’s (puked on a Mariner). When it comes to thatched-roof hangouts, you’ve never had much luck (wet T-shirt wins don’t count).
Time to change your streak at Marazul, the new island-inspired restaurant opening tomorrow next to the Pan Pacific Hotel.
Helmed by chef Bruce Dillon (a recent Miami transplant), the almost over-the-top spot appeals to your inner escapist with its Asian/Cuban/Caribbean menu, palm trees, and cascading water wall.
Sample more than 40 rums at the bar or slip into the tatami room for watermelon, ahi tuna, and miso ceviche or shrimp adobado sate. Come summer, they’ll serve sugarcane snow cones laced with rum on the sprawling patio.
Everything, incidentally, is pleasantly affordable.
So it’s your fault if you’re paying the morning after.
Marazul, 2200 Westlake Avenue (206-654-8170 or marazulrestaurant.com).
