Cramming into a stuffy booth pretending to enjoy more tapas is no way to spend Friday night. Especially not when your snotty waiter demands a mound of cash for the miniscule portions.
Ryan Margolis’s new 707 should turn the tables.
Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto the street for a cafe-ish vibe. Grab a drink at the square mahogany bar under giant chandeliers, then snag a curved booth in the dining room. (A lounge and private room wait downstairs.)
Dishes on Chef Dan Soley’s Americana-inspired menu top out at $20, so you can afford to sample a few. Try Reuben spring rolls with pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. Or mini hot dogs smothered in chili, cheese, Alsacienne sauerkraut, Dijon, shallots, and relish. The pork, veal, and, beef meat loaf will sate your cravings for a home-cooked meal.
The perfect end? Melt-in-your-mouth funnel cake.
Well, that and not dreading the bill.
