Unlike the steamy people soup that is your daily commute, some journeys are sheer joy.
Like the making of a pair of Sharkah Chakra jeans.
The voyage begins with fair-trade organic cotton from Mali, Africa. Then it’s on to a remote Indian village, where the cotton threads are dyed with a natural indigo dye and handwoven on antique wooden looms.
Then the cloth travels to Italy to be cut, sewn and set with a trademark nine-carat, recycled gold rivet. From there, the finished article — a classic straight jean available in three shades of blue — is sent to London. More styles will follow next season, all in the same butter-soft cloth.
In case you’re spitting and spluttering at all the air pollution this must cause, Sharkah Chakra is carbon neutral: the company offsets all of its emissions.
