We figure you’ve been bombarded with enough resolution reminders about working out and eating well. New Year’s is also about finding time to relax. Herewith, a few suggestions that’ll leave your mind (and body) at ease (well, mostly).
Rub a Dub
Can’t decide between a Swedish and Thai massage? Get double the pleasure with the Swe-Thai rubdown at Aniko Salon & Spa (111 South Wabash Avenue; 312-431-1573), where you’ll get the benefit of relaxation and a stretch to boot. For that dewy glow, check out the pumpkin chemical peel (there’s a new scent each month). And make your toes (and mouth) happy with the cocoa mocha pedicure (add a shot of Bailey’s if you’re a true lush).
Smooth Moves
If you do decide to hit the gym, treat yourself with a dose of Splash’s after-workout peppermint body scrub from newly opened Pour Vous (1750 West Division Street, at Wood Street; 773-698-6024). The stuff is all natural and made entirely of essential oils. Also check out Splash’s green tea serum to reduce fine lines and the orange lavender skin souffle. At reasonable prices, these products are almost too good to be true.
Dare to Bare
If you can’t resolve to get trim, at least go to the new Trim location in Bucktown (1629 North Milwaukee Avenue; 773-276-8746). For that holiday sparkle, you can bedazzle your bush (we’re not kidding), or go for a pubic tint. If you’re a purer type, stick to their threading and waxing menu. Their top-notch technique is worth the (very tiny bit of) pain.
