Beauty and the Geek

You know it’s smart to love clothing, but what about loving clothing that’s smart?

Seamless: Computational Couture may turn you on your head.

With more than twenty designers flying in from around the world, plus a handful of local MIT hotshots, the fashion show naturally has a few exceptional works of sartorial ingenuity. There’s a five-person dress that morphs into a tent and sweaters with text of recent news knitted right into the fabric. (Take that, Missoni.)

If the mind-blowing designs aren’t enough to flip your skirt, Project Runway’s Steven Rosengard will be your emcee, and Red Sox pitcher Manny Delcarmen will do a cameo. Plus, the event evolves into a living exhibition where you can check out the clothing up close and shimmy to the beat of Zero G Sounds.

Now that’s style with substance.

Seamless: Computational Couture, tonight, 8 p.m., at the Museum of Science, 1 Science Park (617-723-2500). Tickets online at mos.org.
