Sisters and brothers, raise up your hands, for we have seen the light!
And it has never been so radiant. Praise be to Brooklyn-based Michael McHale and his hand-wrought chandeliers. (A woman faints.)
Each fixture is personally constructed by the Oxford-educated ex-lawyer with zilch formal art training, who tried his hand at lighting after a search for ceiling lamps resulted in more of the same old Mylar crap.
His first stop: the hardware store, where he found inspiration in brass piping. Inspired by its unique geometry, he dangled Swarovski crystals just so and affixed refrigerator bulbs for a look that’s innovative, industrial, and classy.
Chandeliers are available in all sizes, though our favorite is a small corner piece that’s sure to land your halogen on Craigslist.
No, they don’t come cheap, but just think of it as eternal light.
